Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Last updated 14 September 2026

The information we collect

We collect only what we need to answer your enquiry, deliver something you have asked for, or provide our services. That is usually:

  • Contact details. Your name, email address, phone or mobile number, business name and role.
  • What you tell us. The content of your enquiry, brief or correspondence.
  • Website usage. Your IP address, device and browser, the pages you visit and how you arrived, collected through cookies and analytics.
  • Engagement and billing details. Where you become a client, the information we need to deliver the work and invoice for it.

We do not collect sensitive information as that term is defined in the Privacy Act, and we do not ask for it. Please do not send us health, financial account or government identifier details through our website forms.

How we collect it

  • Directly from you, when you complete a form on our website, download a document, email or call us, or meet with us.
  • Automatically, through cookies and website analytics when you visit connectioncapital.com.au.
  • From public sources, such as a company website or a professional networking profile, when we are researching a business we may be able to help.

Where it is reasonable and practicable, we collect personal information directly from you rather than from someone else.

Why we collect it

  • To respond to your enquiry and to send you a document you have requested.
  • To prepare proposals, deliver our services and manage our engagement with you.
  • To invoice you and keep the business records we are required to keep.
  • To understand how our website is used and to improve it.
  • To send you marketing, but only where you have agreed to receive it.

Marketing and how to opt out

Giving us your email address so we can send you a document does not, on its own, sign you up to anything. We will only add you to a marketing list where you have separately agreed to it.

If you do receive marketing from us, every email carries an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by emailing [email protected]. We will action it promptly.

Cookies and website analytics

Our website uses cookies, which are small files stored by your browser. Some are necessary for the site to work. Others help us understand how the site is used, through Google Analytics.

You can manage your preferences through the consent banner shown when you first visit, and you can clear or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

We do share it with:

  • Service providers who help us operate, including website hosting, email delivery, email marketing, analytics, file storage and accounting providers. They may only use it to provide that service to us.
  • Our professional advisers, such as our accountants and lawyers, where required.
  • Anyone you ask us to, or where we are required or authorised to by law.

Storage and overseas disclosure

Personal information is held in our website database, our email and file storage systems, and the systems of the service providers described above. Some of those providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States.

Before disclosing personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Information our clients give us

In the course of our work we are often given access to a client’s own systems, databases and customer information. We treat that as the client’s confidential material, we use it only to deliver the services we have been engaged for, and we handle it under the confidentiality and data security obligations in our Standard Terms.

How we keep it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. That includes access controls on our systems and choosing reputable providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it, or for as long as we are required to keep it by law. When it is no longer needed, we destroy it or de-identify it.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for making a request, and if we refuse access or a correction we will tell you why in writing.

Making a complaint

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please tell us first. Email [email protected] with the details and we will acknowledge it and respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
